ABOUT

Consisting of Tessa Petersen (Violin), Ngaru Martin (Violin/Viola), Nathaniel Otley (Violin/Viola), and Heleen Du Plessis (Cello) the Exhibition Quartet are thrilled to be able to present their first performance to the Dunedin public on the 6th of March 2022.

This inaugural programme features an exciting array of music from here in Aotearoa. Peter Adam’s Look to the Far Horizon (2015) is a vivid encapsulation of the atmosphere and character of Otago Peninsula. Fragment II (2016) by Leonie Holmes expands a simple thematic idea through a variety of textures, moods and tempos. This concert will also feature the world premiere of Dunedin composer Anthony Ritchie’s String Quartet No. 1 some 38 years after it was completed in 1984. The programme also includes Gillian Whitehead’s 1978 work Okuru, a virtuosic early work for violin and piano performed by Nathaniel Otley and John Van Buskirk.

Entry by Koha/Donation.

This concert is supported by the Dunedin City Council Creative Communities scheme
