About the work:
Gardens are fertile sites for examining and better understanding the negotiations of agency that occur between both the human and more than human. This work ruminates on some of these negotiations and acts: from sitting on the ground sifting through soil with your bare hands, to other deeply sensory acts of observing, smelling and picking from the plants growing there. I am also fascinated by the garden as an epistemic site as it exists as both a wild and highly curated space, a fact that ensures tensions are constantly found and reproduced within them; from those generated by the garden’s history within coloniality to those generated by questions of access, inclusion and exclusion.
