Explorations was a project that presented two concerts to Dunedin audiences of contemporary music for violin and viola. It featured a mini-residency of violinist and composer Mark Menzies, one of New Zealand’s premiere violinists, who worked with various Dunedin musicians to present a range of music from around the world in Dunedin for the first time.

The first of these concerts took place on the 11th of August and included works from New Zealand, Australia and Italy that explore the physical capabilities of the violin and the viola. The second concert in the series featured music for Violin/Viola and electronics.
